Transitional Kindergarten
Beginning in 2012/13, CVUSD will offer Transitional Kindergarten (TK). TK is a developmental, hands on instructional program for children born between 9/2/2007 and 12/2/2007 only.  TK is based on learning through exploration, exposure, and experience and is offered at:
  • Walnut in Newbury Park
  • Acacia & Aspen in Thousand Oaks

Learn more about the TK program by reviewing the  Kindergarten Options  (en Espanol).

(Due to state budget cuts, the TK program for children born between 11/2/2007 and 12/2/2007 (after the 11/1/2007 kindergarten eligibility date) may be impacted.  A decision will be made by 4/30/2012.)

INTERDISTRICT TRANSFER

If you would like to transfer your child into or out of CVUSD you will need to complete an Interdistrict Attendance Permit. Visit our Pupil Services webpage to learn more about the interdistrict transfer process

PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT TRANSFER

In accordance with No Child Left Behind legislation enacted in 2002, all students at schools that receive Title I funding must score “Advanced” or “Proficient” by the 2013/2014 school year. In addition, all students in significant subgroups (i.e. English Learners, Socio-Economically Disadvantaged, Students with Disabilities, etc) must score “Advanced” or “Proficient” by the 2013/2014 school year. To reach this goal, the target scores have increased every year.

One or more subgroups at the following schools have not met the target for two consecutive years, resulting in the schools being named “Program Improvement” (PI) schools. Students that attend PI schools, and new registrants that reside in a PI school’s neighborhood, are periodically offered the opportunity to attend a non-PI school with a higher API score.

The Program Improvement Transfer Application is available in the registration packet for new applicants at the above-listed schools.
