In case you were wondering...
I was born here in Thousand Oaks. My family moved to Ohio when I was 4, where I lived until graduating from Wintersville High School in 1992. I returned to California to attend Pepperdine University. I graduated with a major in Accounting in 1996. I then worked for several years as a tax accountant before reentering the world of education. In 2003, I received a Masters in Education and teaching credential from Pepperdine. I also recently received my Masters in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from CSUN.
I've been teaching at Cypress since 2003, which makes this my 10th year here! I've enjoyed teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. I've had many roles here at Cypress, including working with Student Council and organizing the Talent Show. I'm currently the GATE Facilitator, EL Advisor, and Odyssey of the Mind Coordinator.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Kirsten, is a fellow educator. She's currently the principal of Acacia Elementary School in Thousand Oaks. I have two daughters, Kaitlyn, 7, and Sophie, 5, and a son, Owen, who was born in September.
I'm thankful to be at such a terrific school, with such wonderful students and supportive parents. I'm looking forward to a great year in 5th grade!
