| March Parent Letter - Monday, March 18, 2013
Dear Parents, March 18th, 2013
Wow, March has been another busy and productive month! Your child is reading and spelling now! We have learned and recognized all the vowel sounds. Ask your child to spell simple consonant-vowel-consonant words (such as mop, van, ten, cup, etc.) and they can do it! Your child is building confidence in writing more and more phonetically without prompts or help! In math, we are continually working on addition and subtraction number stories. We are working on the concept and value of money and learning about three dimensional shapes; cube, sphere, cone, cylinder.
Mark your calendars for some important upcoming events:
Wednesday, March 20th: PTA Fundraiser at Rubios.
Friday, March 22nd : Student Council Super Spirit Day; Career Day (your child can dress up in a career costume; optional).
Friday, April 5th: Walnut Walk-A-Thon; please sign Parent’s Approval and Student Waiver Form if you haven’t already.
Monday March 25th –April 1st: Spring Break; School resumes on Tuesday April 2nd.
Happy Spring to all of you wonderful families!

| February Parent Letter - Monday, February 18, 2013
Dear Parents,
Wow, February has been a very busy and productive month so far! We celebrated the 100th day of school and participated in activities that taught us the value of 100! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make this day so memorable and special! We also decorated and made our Valentine mailboxes! We delivered our Valentine cards to our friends and enjoyed opening and reading each one. Our class shows kindness and friendship everyday but on this particular day the love was overflowing! I received a special Valentine from our class that was a beautiful potted rose plant that made my heart soar (a special thank you to Mrs. Majesky, our “room parent” for putting this together… WOW, thank you). Your children are precious to this life of ours. This month, we also learned about George Washington and Abraham Lincoln and their historical significance in our country!
Mark your calendars for some very important school-wide events. On Thursday, February 28th from 6:30-7:30pm we will be celebrating Family Reading Night! There will be a special celebration to honor Dr. Seuss’ Birthday in the Multi-Purpose Room beginning at 6:30 and then you are invited back to the classrooms for some Dr. Seuss story time. Wear your pajamas and slippers for this very special occasion. You won’t want to miss it! Also, this Friday February 22nd is Super Spirit Crazy Hair Day, sponsored by Walnut Student Council. Your child may come to with wild hair!
Have a great week wonderful families!
Mrs. Roth
